New York S/S 10: Monique Lhuillier
There were many inspirations and influences in Lhuillier's collection, including East Africa, 1920's, Dior's New Look to Chanel 2 pieces. There wasn't much cohesion between the pieces but seperately they were stunning. Grecian maxi dresses were draped and fluid and worn with rope belts while heavy fringed jerseys paid homage to the flappers of the 20's and gold embellished boleros and dresses looked towards East African designs. Animal prints were also seen here in the form of belted macs and sleeveless dresses but were muted so looked more elegant. The Chanel-esque grey skirt two had added features such as a large bow collar and black frayed edging. Lhuillier also showcased one-shoulder dresses which appear to be a continuing trend for next season.
