New York S/S 10: Alexander Wang

Alexander Wang drew very sporty inspirations for this collection. The theme was american sports so baseball, football and the like. The collection was sporty but still effortlessly cool, and very utilitarian. The models wore their hair in one sided plaits which emphasised the 'off-duty sportstar' look and wore knee high socks which I loved. There were a lot of khaki greens around and greys which looks set to be a big colour in Spring. One of the stand out pieces for me was the corset/sweatshirt top which added just the right amount of sexiness to the sportiness of the collection. I also liked the brown leather high waisted shorts which reminded me of a deflated football/baseball (I have no clue about US sports, but you know the one I mean). There was also a fitted sweater dress but had voluminous sleeves so it gave the appearance of an oversized jumper even though it wasn't. The sports jacket with the sheer leggings also looked great as the sheer leggings made the look more feminine. The sports theme didn't overtake the collection but was heavily referenced in some pieces but in others you had to look that little bit closer.
