New York Spring/Summer 2011: Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham continues to evolve and strengthen as a designer, season after season. This collection was no exception, and showed why she has been nominated for a coveted British Fashion Award. The dresses as always were alluring, the opening dress in violet silk was knotted at the waist and had the perfect colour. An asymmetric, nude dress was delicately draped and showed how all dresses should fall on the body. These were followed by an array of adorable day dresses which had a distinct 60's vibe. The bell shaped dresses were amongst the prominent looks. They were finished with a low v neckline and an emphasised waist. I loved the exposed zip design detail, and the blush tones. Lame dresses were an unexpected pleasure and the closing gowns were impressive in their simplicity. The handbag collection was also launched today and looked as lovely as I thought they would. Everyone knows how much I love VB (if not take a look in my archives). The collection told a story of structure, curves and shapes... but mostly, how clothes should fit, fall and hang on a woman.
