New York Spring/Summer 2011: Alexander Wang
This was a collection of optimism and purity with a Wang twist. The twist being the distinct construction/DIY theme running throughout the pieces. The all-in-one overalls and large pockets highlighted this, and the white paint in the models hair signified that this was definitely a 'working' women's collection. The white looks, showed that Wang was going in a different direction and there wasn't a single black piece in the show. He made the whole deconstruction/construction mood light and fresh. The addition of colours in the smock dresses created depth as did the doodle print. The doodle prints were reminiscent of a carpenters notebook and looked great on the blank canvas that were the white jumpsuits. The collection was casual and loose, but with a touch of that Alexander Wang magic.
