New York Spring/Summer 2011: Richard Chai

Laidback layering appeared to be the theme at Richard Chai. The neutral palette of grey, off white, black and blue were worked into heavily layered basics. The sheer leggings cum trousers were worn with most of the looks, and paired with everything from cycling shorts to oversized blazers. The collection evoked images of those slightly kooky girls who can throw on 75% of their wardrobe, at the same time and make it work. The pieces were all in the same tones and mood so they worked quite well. However, to be more wearable I would advise taking off the last thing you put on. Sheer tees, city shorts, leather waistcoats and the eponymous maxi were all seen. There was a distinct sporty feel to the collection.
