The Big Smoke

Red Buses. Black Taxis. The Underground. Bond Street. Overcrowding. Pollution. The City. I love London. I've lived here since I was a little girl, I was born in Watford which is utterly random. But, I  moved to London when I was still a baby. London makes me smile and frown simultaneously, often at the same time. I only have to wait around 2 minutes for a train, this makes me smile. There are around 50 people squeezed into the tiniest carriage, this makes me frown. I love the bright lights that never sleep and the lingering smell of stale city air. I love waving my hand at a black taxi and finding new little gems that I have never seen before.

I am newly-in-love with Big Smoke nail polish from Topshop Make Up. As promised I tried it out and the range is great, me and some of my fellowfashionstudents spent quite a well browsing through with countless squeals and jumps for joy. This colour is perfect, it is a lovely grey/brown/mink. Quite similar to Chanel's Le Particuliere. For me it sums London up.

Oh Chanel.

Chanel is a girl's best friend. I want two things from Chanel this month. Nail Polish and a waiting list. Le Vernis Particulière is the Jade of S/S 10. I need it in my life. Did I do the waiting list, of course not. Why you ask? I hate waiting lists for nail polish, I refuse to do it, although I am kicking myself (with heels on I might add) that I didn't. So I shall do it the old fashioned way and kick and scream my way into Selfridges on Jan 29th at 9am maybe 10am. I will not leave until my nails are painted in a delightful hue of greyish brown or until someone scary pushes me away. My other Chanel item is the Le Trompe L'oeil de Chanel temporary tattoos from S/S 10. I don't like temporary tattoos, I have a real one (pink bow, left wrist). However, I do like Chanel temporary tattoos... I have no idea where I shall affix them but I want some. They are due for launch on March 1st at Selfridges, I shall be there with elbows sharpened again. I am also calling Chanel Bond Street on Monday bright and early to be put on the waiting list, if they don't have one they will have to start one. Yes, I am a waiting list snob, no to nail polish but a definite yes to temporary tattoos. Chanel does strange things to a girl.

Barry M: Flamingo Pink

This is the my newest Barry M nail polish. 'Flamingo pink' it's called. I love the name. I am a fan of the aforementioned bird, mainly because they are pink and I saw some when I went on my vaycay to Cuba. Pretty. The nail polish doesn't look like flamingo pink if it did it would be much lighter, as David Attenborough kindly informed me on Life last week (i-player it, it is the greatest wildlife show...ever). The shade is more of a dark coral which really warmed up my A/W wardrobe, which doesn't really need warming up due to my lush pink coat. The only thing that I didn't like about the polish is that it has chipped beyond repair only two days in, maybe I put too many coats on, but it's prettier that way. I would recommend it though it is a lovely colour and on the first day of wearing it is stunning then it should be removed due to any embarrasing skanky chipped nail dilemmas.
