Blow by Blow: The Story of Isabella Blow - Book Review

Isabella Blow was a legendary, creative and fantastical fashion icon. Her suicide in 2007 came as a dramatic shock to the fashion world. Isabella was known for her amazing talent spotting and forward thinking vision. I have admired her for years, and her life behind those oversized Philip Treacy hats, intrigued me.

Detmar Blow, her husband of 18 years and Tom Sykes have written this beautiful and poignant book about her colourful life. From the tragedies of her childhood to her remarkable career in fashion. I read this book in one day. I couldn't put it down, Issie's story pulled me in and after each page I was overcome with a different emotion. This is a story of a woman who fought a battle with depression and made the fashion industry fall in love with her unapologetic eccentricity and intelligent creativity.

This is a book that needs to have a place on everyone's bookshelf. Issie's story is inspirational, she had a career that many would dream of and she worked hard to show the world her vision. She faced depression and loss in her life but still managed to be a legend.
